Pasta Evangelists

When I started cooking, one of the first things I learnt to make was pasta. A hearty dish which satisfied my taste buds (hello, it has cheese!). Fast forward many years and it’s still one of my favourite dishes to prepare. Although, now I sometimes try and be a bit more elaborate with different sauces and types of pasta itself, there are still variations I keep discovering.

The packaging is a long narrow box which fits through your letter box so you don’t need to be in to sign for it. It contains cooling packs to keep produce fresh.

I got the Rigatoni with Sausage Ragu and Orecchiette with Pistachio Pesto, Pecorino, Sorrel and Watercress.

The ingredients were colour coded and the recipe cards were simple to follow. The dishes were so quick to prepare – perfect for the end of a busy working day.

The rigatoni was a good winter dish which was made bolder by the addition of pecorino foam. Though for me, the real star of the show was the orecchiette. I never had this type of pasta before, but found the firmness to fit well with the pistachio pesto. All the flavours worked well together in this recipe including the extra crumbed pistachio – which provided that necessary crunch to this dish.

While the meals are interesting and fresh, I found that the cost of this service may be quite substantial if I were to use it on a regular basis. Circa £8-£12 for a pasta dish (each dish feeds just one) can certainly amalgamate into the same as eating out.
